Holiday Sparks by Shannon Stacey

Holiday Sparks was such a fun and short read! The characters had instant chemistry and the set-up was enjoyable. I liked that he had always had a crush on her during their school years, and that even though she was quite popular back then, she was a really nice girl. It’s also steamy for a short read! But not in a graphic way, more in a lusting way, lol. I really recommend this one!

Her Holiday Man by Shannon Stacey

Her Holiday Man was such a sweet novella, you guys! The characters were all good people who were thoughtful and kind. I’ve never felt better about two people getting together. Also, I love when there are kids in stories because they add that extra emotional level for me. The setting is great and it was a true Christmas novella as they have the dinners and the morning with the gifts and all. Another hit from Shannon Stacey!

Adrian Blackstone built a million-dollar business with hard work and determination—and by remaining professional at all times. Denying his longtime attraction to his beautiful executive assistant hasn't been easy but it's necessary. She's indispensable, and he can't stand the thought of losing her if things didn't work out.

For more than a year, Rachel Carter has been quietly dreaming of all the ways she'll never seduce her sexy, buttoned-up boss. She's worked too hard to get where she is to cross that line, no matter how badly she'd like to act on her fantasies. But then a wicked snowstorm leaves them stranded in a romantic winter wonderland…

What begins as a single kiss and a few bad Santa jokes turns into a weekend full of breathless passion and hopes for something more. But with Monday comes a return to their complicated reality—and Adrian must prove that promises made are promises kept, especially at Christmastime.

Snowbound with the CEO is the perfect quick holiday read. Its length by no means sacrificed story, which is something I’ve found satisfying in previous shorts by Shannon Stacey.

Stuck in a snowed-in hotel with your hot boss is certainly not a bad way to spend a weekend. And if you’re thinking this could be terrifyingly like The Shining, it’s not like that, don’t worry. There’s staff there and a few other guests. I loved the part where they’re drinking at the hotel bar and they finally let themselves enjoy one another. The flirting and sexual chemistry was super fun.

Once back in real life though, miscommunication had to go and mess with things between them. I thought Shannon did a great job at showing us the depth of their longing and hurt and finally their happy ending. None of it felt rushed. The pacing was rather perfect for this short novel.

Be sure to add this little gem to your holiday reading lists!! Or! Enter for a chance to win an ebook copy!

Heating up the Holidays

Claire Rutledge still believes in love, despite losing her husband. So, after two years, she's not surprised by the steamy dreams telling her it might be time to start moving on. But she didn't expect her friend Justin to have the starring role.

Justin McCormick has loved Claire since the moment he first saw her, but his best friend got there first. Now that Claire is ready to move on with her life, Justin is finding it harder than ever to hide his true feelings. And when they both get caught up in the holiday spirits at a party, their simmering mutual attraction boils over into a night neither of them can forget...

As it turned out, I did end up reading/listening to a Christmas book in December! And I was glad with my choice too!

Shannon Stacey become one of my favorite authors in 2012. So when I saw this little gem for so cheap, I quickly snatched it up. It is SO worth your money, friends. This is a short story, but Shannon Stacey’s characters are so well rounded that it felt like a full-length book. I loved that!

This story was completely fun, sexy, and emotional. It really had so much depth. And those smexy moments…wowzers!! The story pace was so well done it felt like a full novel to me. Also, all the characters are very well developed. I loved how well rounded this novella was.

I don’t believe this audiobook is sold on its own anymore. It is now part of the Holiday Kisses anthology. In any case, MacLeod Andrews does a fantastic job reading this book. And it’s a short listen, at only 2 hrs and 4 mins.

As always, thank you for always delivering such great Contemporary Romance stories Ms. Stacey. I am very much looking forward to reading more of your books.

What Some Friends Had to Say About It…

Jac @ For Love and Books – “So if you’re a romance fan? Or a Christmas fan? Or if you like Margarita’s. Or if you’ve ever drank a Margarita? You NEED to read this!”

April @ Good Books and Good Wine – “Friends, Mistletoe & Margaritas had one of my favorite types of romance tropes — fighting the undeniable attraction.”

Amy @ So Many Reads – “Mistletoe & Margaritas is a very sweet, emotional story. This is a great story to read anytime of the year, but especially at Christmastime.”

He won't stay put for a woman, and she won't chase after any man…

Mitch Kowalski lives out of a suitcase—and he likes it that way.

Traveling for work has the added bonus of scaring off women who would otherwise try to tie him down. But when he's called home to help with the family lodge, he's intrigued by the new girl in town and her insistence that she doesn't need a man. If there's one thing Mitch can't resist, it's a challenge.

After a nomadic childhood, Paige Sullivan is finally putting down roots. Determined to stand on her own two feet, she lives by the motto "Men are a luxury, not a necessity." But when Mr. Tall, Dark and Hot pulls up a stool in her diner and offers her six weeks of naughty fun with a built-in expiration date, she's tempted to indulge.

They're the perfect match for a no-strings fling. Until they realize their sexy affair has become anything but casual...

I am one of many people who is a huge fan of this series. There’s just something about the Kowalski family that is completely engrossing. These Kowalski’s are the cousins though, and they come with a lot more baggage. Sign me up!

We actually meet Mitch Kowalski in Yours to Keep, and I can honestly say he left me all kinds of intrigued. He carries himself with the confidence of knowing he could get any woman he wants but, thankfully, isn’t actually cocky. So when Paige totally blows him off OF COURSE he’s going to chase her! It was really fun seeing him work a little for her, but it was only a matter of time before she gave in. I mean, the guy is irresistible! Mitch and Paige had great chemistry and I really enjoyed watching them unknowingly fall in love with each other.

I loved the fact that Paige had only been in town two years, yet she’d heard most all stories about teenage Mitch and his…talents. ;) She really did try to ignore him, bless her heart, but there was no way. He’s Mitch! And he has an amazing smile.

The setting of this Kowalski book, and I believe the next few to follow, is different than the first three. We are now in Whitford, Maine, and it is a small town, where everyone knows everybody and all of their business. No secret is safe…which makes for a completely fun setting! I love these type of towns, especially when we get to hear about all the trouble these Kowalskis got into as youngsters. The Kowalski family owns the North Star Lodge in town. It’s been passed down to Mith and his siblings now, and his brother Josh runs it for all of them. I think Josh’s story will turn out to be my favorite…but Ryan’s will probably be the more emotional one. Ryan is another of Mitch’s brothers we meet in this book.

Shannon Stacey writes this series in a way that makes it impossible not to feel part of it. I care about them SO MUCH! I really do! And I’m completely looking forward to reading what comes next.

Emma Shaw needs a husband, and fast! Not because she's interested in romance—after all, she's too busy with her landscaping company—but because Grandma Shaw is coming to town, and she will have nonstop questions about Emma's (stagnant) love life.

Sean Kowalski no sooner leaves the Army than he's recruited by Emma to be her fake fiance. Sean doesn't like the deception, but he can't help his attraction to the feisty brunette. A little pretend kissing won't hurt anyone—especially when there's no chance he'll fall for a woman with deep roots in a town he's not planning to call home. But when fake, innocent kisses lead to very real, explosive sparks, Emma and Sean discover that their big ruse might just lead to happily-ever-after…

This type of plot ALWAYS gets me. It’s seriously one of my favorite formulas. The guy or girl does the other a favor by pretending to their families that they’re dating…yeah, it’s the FUNNEST EVER!! Like the movies The Proposal or The Wedding Date. Looooove! Yours to Keep was just so perfect.

In a way it was a little different than those stories. In Yours to Keep, the only person “in the dark” is Emma’s grandmother. Everyone else, including Sean’s family, is in on it, and they sure liked to give them crap about it. It was really entertaining to see the Kowalski’s twisted sense of humor in play in this book.

Sean Kowalski is now my favorite Kowalski. There. I said it. He’s just so dang adorable! He’s so down to earth, and he’s so funny and cute. How could I not love him?! And I really loved Emma. Emma is not a girly girl, but she’s feminine at the same time. I think that’s a great balance and it really made it easy to relate to her. She also had a great sense of humor and didn’t take any of Sean’s crap. Their chemistry jumped off the page the more and more time they spent getting to know each other, while pretending to be an old, engaged couple.

I love the family dynamics of this series. The Kowalski’s stole my heart from the first book, Exclusively Yours, and they continue to make me laugh, cry, and want to run away to New Hampshire.

If you’re in the market for a romance novel that will take you on a really fun ride, with lots of laughs and sexy moments, look no further. I can’t wait to read more about this awesome family.

One-night stand + two percent condom failure rate = happily ever after?

Bar owner Kevin Kowalski is used to women throwing their phone numbers at him, but lately he’s more interested in finding a woman to settle down with. A woman like Beth Hansen. If only their first meeting hadn’t gone so badly...

Beth’s tending bar at a wedding when she comes face-to-face with a tuxedo-clad man she never thought she’d see again. She tries to keep her distance from Kevin but, by last call, she can’t say no to his too-blue eyes or the invitation back to his room. Then she slips out before breakfast without leaving a note and, despite their precautions, pregnant.

Kevin quickly warms to the idea of being a dad and to seeing where things go with Beth. After all, he’s not the player she thinks he is. But she’s not ready for a relationship and, given his reputation, it’s going to take a lot to convince her to go on a second date with the father of her child...

So days before reading this book I had finished the first one in this series, Exclusively Yours, and I could not wait to start this one. The Kowalski’s left such an impression on me that I was antsy to revisit them soon!

I hadn’t read a romance yet (I haven’t by any means read every romance book out there, mind you) where a one night stand turned into a pregnancy due to birth control failure. Or where, in turn, said couple goes through the entire pregnancy as not a couple…just neighbors who happen to be having a baby together, lol.

Kevin Kowalski will now and forever be one of my favorite male characters. His adorableness SLAYED me! I found him so incredibly endearing and funny and sexy. I wanted to just hug him, kiss him, and *cough* well…other stuff too. I actually found Beth very sweet at the core of everything. The way she was with Kevin’s family really showed her true self, especially since we saw her holding back so much of herself when she was just around Kevin. Though Kevin and Beth quickly become great friends due to this pregnancy and the boundaries Beth created, it does not squelch one bit of the longing or the sexual tension between them. I can totally understand her stance on wanting to take care of herself, and I thought Beth’s decision was a smart one, but there were moments I wished she would’ve given in sooner. It was certainly a different experience from other romances I’ve read, but I loved it.

The rest of the Kowalski family is ever-present in this book too. Even our Exclusively Yours’ Joe and Keri have a couple of big moments in this one that totally left me smiling from ear to ear.

I can honestly say that I am now a HUGE fan of Shannon Stacey! I will be scouring my library for her other books very, very soon. And I definitely cannot wait for the third book in this series, Yours to Keep.

When Keri Daniels’ editor finds out she has previous carnal knowledge of reclusive bestselling author Joe Kowalski, she gives Keri a choice: get an interview or get a new job. Joe’s never forgotten the first girl to break his heart, so he’s intrigued to hear Keri’s back in town–and looking for him. Despite his intense need for privacy, he’ll grant Keri an interview if it means a chance to finish what they started in high school.

He proposes an outrageous plan–for every day she survives with his family on their annual camping and four-wheeling trip, Keri can ask one question. Keri agrees; she’s worked too hard to walk away from her career.

But the chemistry between them is still as potent as the bug spray, Joe’s sister is out to avenge his broken heart and Keri hasn’t ridden an ATV since she was ten. Who knew a little blackmail, a whole lot of family and some sizzling romantic interludes could make Keri reconsider the old dream of Keri & Joe 2gether 4ever.

I had a high school sweetheart–my first love–who I think back on fondly sometimes…and secretly wonder if he thinks of me, so this book really spoke to me. Keri and Joe were THE high school couple everyone knew about, talked about, envied…but they haven’t been together since Keri left for California after graduation…leaving poor Joe completely wrecked. This is the story of what happens when they reunite, almost 20 years later. Will there still be sparks? Will there be chemistry? Can they be friends? You betcha!!

There is chemistry, sparks, lust, friendship…you name it! They pretty much wanted to jump each other the moment they saw each other again. Of course, this doesn’t happen…there are things to consider, like the fact that they can’t have a relationship past the two weeks they’ll have together. And so the struggle to keep their hands off each other begins. And, oh, how fun it is to read. It isn’t easy for either of them though, especially Keri. She has to come back to her hometown and spend time with the family of the guy whose heart she broke so completely. Would they still hate her? The answer is…no. Well, at least, not all of them still hate her.

The Kowalskis…*sigh* This family felt so real! From the parents to the siblings to the children, I loved all of them. It was especially amusing seeing Terry, Joe’s sister, still holding a grudge against her former best friend, Keri. The things she did to Keri might have been juvenile…but they were funny! The kids were adorable! Anytime Bobby was on the page, my heart melted. And I am so intrigued by single brother Kevin… I must dive into the next book SOON, which is all about him. :D

Another fun part about this book was the setting. Camping in the woods! Though they had RVs and a cabin, it was still fun to read about their outdoor activities and the campfires. I wouldn’t mind camping like that. I’m not a huge fan of sleeping in a tent, but and RV or cabin could be fun.

Straight up, I loved this book. :) I couldn’t put it down. By the end, I had laughed, swooned, and cried. I will be definitely be reading the next book in the series right away! Bring it on, Kowalskis!

The waitress tapped her pen on the tab. “So do you guys know what you want?”

And then he did it, just as he always had whenever he’d been asked that question–he looked straight at Keri with blatant hunger in his eyes and said, “Yes, ma’am, I do.”

The shiver passed all the way from her perfectly styled hair to her Ferragamo pumps.
